The South Health Campus (SHC) Project Director is a senior professional position reporting to the Vice President, South Health Campus. The SHC is a 1.41 billion dollar construction project whose
vision is to deliver the future of health care and in doing so add important clinical capacity to the Calgary Zone. The project was initiated in 2004 with construction beginning in 2005. The planned
completion date will be in December, 2011 with occupancy planned for sometime in early 2012.
The position of Project Director is to provide oversight and ensure integration of the various workplans within the 4 major components of the project (Clinical Design (including Operational
planning), advanced technologies, clinical engagement and capital). Overall coordination and integration of these components will ensure that the appropriate operational planning, workplans and
implementation strategies are completed so that both current & future client needs are met.   The position will provide leadership in the development and implementation of assigned projects and
workplans. The position leads various components of the planning and integration of the 4 major streams of work involved in the project including operational design, clinical engagement, advanced
technologies and how they impact the capital construction project. The incumbent will be responsible for orchestration of meetings, committees and project work plans, managing to timelines and
ensuring risk management functions are robust. The position will have a key role in stakeholder relations, planning and organizing the activities of the division and coordinating issues management on
behalf of the SHC.
The position is also responsible for:
- Orchestration and overall coordination of the work plan for A Project Team Leadership Group (TLM) for the 4 major components of the project - capital, clinical design, clinical engagement, and
automation & technology, along with key associated enterprise projects to ensure they are delivered on time and on schedule.
- Providing leadership & guidance to TLM on overall schedule including making adjustments and identifying opportunities to adjust individual plans within the 4 components to ensure the project
remains on track, within budget and adheres to timelines
- Cross referencing individual work plans and ensuring the integration & overlap between plans are coordinated and risk managed appropriately.
- Monitoring allocation of work & resources to ensure work plan deliverables are achieved in accordance with scope, timeline & budget
- Coordinating Capital Construction timelines & workflow to ensure integration with clinical, A&T, engagement & enterprise timelines, scope & budget.
- Organizing Project Team Leadership Meeting (TLM) structure - agenda setting in accordance with risks/issues within the 4 domains, to ensure decision-making and problem-solving are achieved in a
timely manner. Providing overall project support to TLM and co-chairs
- Assisting with reporting requirements for SHC Oversight Executive Committee (SHC-OEC) and Alberta Health Services Board
- Supporting the TLM members by regular meetings aimed at coordinating schedules, understanding work load, resource requirements and impact to timelines, scope and budget.
- Provide overall guidance and strategy to administrative assistants in maintaining Share Point filing system and ensuring all documents / tasks/ risks & issues are posted and maintained within
the work schedule.
- Participation and support of the Clinical Design Team working with clinical experts
- Liaising with Capital team regarding construction timelines, tender package releases and orchestrating/organizing deliverables with other components of the project.
- Assisting TLM with the development, integration and implementation of a clinical commissioning plan for SHC that ensures all component parts related to capital & clinical are integrated and
sequenced appropriately.
- Other duties as assigned
- Work independently and in a team environment under the general supervision of the VP, SHC.
- Represents SHC on Zone committees and initiatives.
- Represents SHC or the AHS on identified Provincial Committees or initiatives.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Masters or Graduate Degree in Health Care, Management or Business related field.
- A minimum of 5-7 years senior management experience in a complex public or private organization.
- Project Management Professional (PMP®), or Program Management Professional (PgMP®) designation
- A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
- Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered
