Medical - Licensed Practical Nurse

Unit 81 is a 35 bed Acute Care Surgical Unit. It is a dynamic, challenging, and exciting place to work. Our LPNs deliver care primarily to Orthopaedic patients, with a focus on post-operative
hip and knee replacement surgery patients, as well as Medical and Surgical patients. As Orthopaedics is a specialty care area, we provide an extensive orientation, and ongoing education and training
opportunities. The LPN on Unit 81 works as a member of a strong interdisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals,
families, and/or communities within level of competency. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and within the identified scope of practice of the Unit of hire, the LPN assess, plans,
implements, and evaluates care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, and preventing illness, injury and disability. The LPN maintains competent practice and provides care
according to the Licensed Practical Nurses Professional Regulation.

Employee Class: Temporary Full Time
Rates of Pay: Minimum: 21.72 per hour Maximum: 28.44 per hour
Qualifications:
- Current active registration with CLPNA required
- Current BLS required.
- 1 - 2 years recent acute care LPN experience preferred.
- Recent orthopaedic / surgical LPN experience preferred.
- Experienced in caring for elderly patients with complex medical/social problems
- Completion of Adult Assessment and IV Therapy Courses preferred.
- Must be prepared to work to full scope of practice.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and a commitment to collaborative teamwork
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of orthopaedic equipment preferred.
- Certification in IV, Blood Glucose Meter preferred.
- Basic computer skills are an asset.
