Medical - Management and Business ProfessionalThe Executive Director Financial Reporting is a key leadership role in Finance based in Calgary and reports directly to the Vice President Financial Reporting. This position is responsible and
accountable for leading a cross functional team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of Financial Reporting services in support of the AHS Strategic Plan.
These services include:
- Quarterly and year end financial reporting to executive management, the Board, Alberta Health and Wellness, and the public.
- Facilitating and managing the external audit process from planning to interim to final fieldwork and reporting of audit results.
- Ensuring relevance, accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of a large number of accountability reports for conditional grants.
- Establishing and maintaining working relationships with AH&W to be aware of and influence changes in meeting financial reporting needs of AH&W.
- Researching technical accounting issues and recommending applicability to AHS.
- Point of contact for various taxation issues and reports.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, etc and a professional accounting designation (CA preferred).
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility in a Financial Reporting role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Thorough understanding of the CICA Handbook
including the not-for-profit standards and the Public Sector Accounting standards.
- An audit manager background providing attention to detail and understanding of processes and internal controls.

- Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
- Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and strategic thinker to providing long term quality services.

- Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector
