Rec Therapist I

Under general supervision, the Recreation Therapist ensures the level of therapeutic recreation practice in the mental health continuum of care is
evidence based and meets standards of practice.  The position involves provision of patient care, orientation of students and Therapist Assistants to the service, participation in performance
appraisals, participation in program evaluation and development, and also participation in staff development.  The individual must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.  A vehicle is
required for the duties of this position.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 31.42 per hour   Maximum: 41.83 per hour
Qualifications:
- Professional membership in the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association required
- Degree in Recreation Therapy, Recreation with a specialization in therapeutic recreation or Adapted Kinesiology
- Evidence of continuing education in recreation therapy preferred
- Experience in mental health preferred
- Ability to work confidently, independently and within collaborative partnerships is essential
- Experience in accessing the Calgary region for therapeutic recreation interventions is a definite asset
- Must possess strong initiative and participatory team skills including excellent communication skills
- Must demonstrate flexibility to practice within a continually changing health care environment
- Microsoft Office Computer knowledge is required
