Medical - Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric NurseReporting to the Manager of the Calgary Pain Program, the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing and participating in the day-to-day
coordination of care for program clients within an interdisciplinary framework at the Chronic Pain Centre. The Clinical Coordinator ensures continuity of care and is the consistent informational
contact for the client, clinic staff and external clinicians and agencies. In addition, the Clinical Coordinator may assist anesthesiologists with invasive procedures which involves pre and post
operative care as well as IV therapy. Patient care is the primary focus of care in an outpatient clinic environment. Important components of this position include the coordination of the team,
patient teaching, mentoring new staff/students and acting as a resource for health care services in the community. The nursing process and competencies in accordance with the following professional
bodies and programs will provide the framework of practice. These bodies and programs include: CARNA, AHS and the Chronic Pain Centre.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 32.34 per hour Maximum: 42.45 per hour
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized nursing program.
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. Previous experience and training will be considered.
- Minimum 2 years progressive experience in working with chronic pain patients in an outpatient setting.
- Experience in working with physicians in the use of standard drugs used in the symptomatic and prophylactic treatment of the stream specific pain syndromes, including patient education regarding
drug dosages and side effects.
- Current CARNA RN registration required.
- Certification for initiating and maintaining intravenous therapy.
- Current ACLS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Familiarity with, and knowledge of, relevant outside agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Program development skills.
- Demonstrated effective teaching skills for clients (individuals and groups), colleagues and students.
- Willingness to cross train with other rehabilitation professionals.
- Ability to perform technically (e.g. computer skills or be prepared to acquire word processing, data entry skills) and analytically.
- Self starter, capability of working with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of common pain syndromes and related pain management strategies.
- Experience facilitating cognitive behavioural groups preferred.
- Professional certification related to area specialty (e.g. initiation, maintenance and discontinuation of Intravenous therapy, IV Push medication administration).
- Advanced nursing competencies related to Conscious Sedation, medication administration, monitoring and basic arrhythmia assessment, and knowledge of medications used specifically at the Chronic
Pain Centre.
- Able to assist anesthetists and provide patient care during specific invasive pain management procedures i.e. Cryoneurotomy, Radio frequency, injections and a variety of pain blocks (i.e. facet,
Stellate Ganglion, Lumbar sympathetic, Guanethedine, Paravertebral, Cervical/Lumbar Medical and Occipital)
