Medical - Clerical and AdministrativeWorking under the general supervision of the Clerical Supervisor and Patient Care Managers, the Clerk IV Procedure Booking Clerk's primary responsibility
is to facilitate organized and efficient service to patients accessing outpatient Gastroenterology Services by acting as a liaison between Patients, Physicians, Nurse Clinicians and other Outpatient
departments. This involves the ongoing coordination of clinic appointments and tests, and communicating with patients regarding clinic appointments and procedural preparation. The Clerk IV
collaborates with patients and Physicians, and communicates with all members of the multidisciplinary team and other inpatient/outpatient departments. Duties include booking and confirming clinic
appointments, scheduling procedures on the Endoscopy Unit, processing Physician orders, scheduling diagnostic tests, retrieving various results and reports, providing appropriate verbal and written
patient education and performing other duties as required.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 22.22 per hour Maximum: 25.48 per hour
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma and Medical Clerical Training or equivalent required
- Completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course preferred
- Minimum of one year in a medical clerical position required.
- Intermediate knowledge and experience of the Internet and a windows-based PC experience required.
- Intermediate knowledge in Clinibase, Healthquest, Endopro, PACS, Netcare and SCM preferred
- Fluency in English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication required.
- Accurate data entry and keyboarding skills, required
- Ability to work with various types of office equipment, including fax machine, photocopier, and printers required
- Ability to use sound judgment and analytical skills using a high degree of accuracy to make decisions regarding patient referrals required
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize, problem solve and handle frequent interruptions required
- Ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced environment and meet workload deadlines required
- Knowledge of Health Records Policies/Release of Information required
- Professional phone etiquette and ability to foster ongoing positive patient and Physician relationships required
- Ability to request and accept direction required
- Exceptional positive interpersonal communications and the ability to work effectively with members of a multi-disciplinary medical team required
- Ability to engage in ongoing communication with patients and various inpatient and outpatient departments in a positive manner required
- Previous Gastroenterology and Outpatient experience preferred
