Medical - Clerical and AdministrativeWorking under general supervision of the Manager, the Unit Clerk is responsible for:
1) Reception Duties - the unit clerk serves as the point of first contact in matters concerning the efficient administration of the patient care unit. Nursing and other members of the
interdisciplinary team rely on the unit clerk's knowledge of overall unit operations.
2) Communication of information - the unit clerk plays a key role in helping to foster a team environment in the unit by facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines,
departments, patients and families and in maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
3) Provides a variety of clerical support duties for the unit.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 21.63 per hour Maximum: 24.91 per hour
Qualifications:
- High School graduation (Grade 12).
- Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk Course (including Medical Terminology) or equivalent and/or acceptable previous experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
- Well developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize work and effectively cope with frequent interruptions, noise and other nearby distractions.
- Basic typing and computer skills are required.
- Ability to remain focused in stressful acute patient situations
