Registered Nurse

The OR Nurse position is responsible for providing perioperative patient care using the nursing process, in accordance with CARNA, Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) and CSA
standards of practice. The Nurse will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub and a circulating role as an integral part of their surgical team. The
nurse is responsible to provide safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite.  The nurse promotes the professional role and evaluates own professional education and clinical practice
standards. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The nurse will practice using evidence based measures and outcomes. The nurse is a patient
advocate and provides a link between the units and the Operating Room. The Registered Nurse draws on a unique body of nursing knowledge.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 32.34 per hour   Maximum: 42.45 per hour
Qualifications:
- Current or eligible registration with CARNA
- Post grad course in Peri-operative nursing or equivalent experience 
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. (University preparation preferred)
- Current BCLS certification required (ACLS / PALS desirable)
- Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment
- Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team
- Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment
- Demonstrated communication skills promoting respect and team spirit
- Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours and to meet the physical demands of the position
- Ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time
- Basic computer skills required
