Medical - Therapist and Therapy Assistant

Practicing within the philosophy and guidelines of the Southern Alberta Renal Program, the Kinesiologist works as a member of the health care team,
collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the chronic kidney disease needs of individuals, families and/or communities. Under general supervision of the manager/unit
manager, the Kinesiologist is responsible for developing and implementing evidence-based best practice in the area of exercise and healthy lifestyle promotion. This includes assessing patients for
exercise capability, prescribing regular exercise regimes, and monitoring the immediate and long-term effects of the exercise prescription. The Kinesiologist collaborates with the manager/unit
manager to expand the reach of exercise programming and to engage other members of the health care team in the provision of exercise programming. It encompasses diverse renal populations, from those
requiring early intervention for chronic kidney disease, to those requiring peritoneal or hemodialysis and inclusive of those needing follow up post-kidney transplant.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 32.73 per hour   Maximum: 43.55 per hour
Qualifications:
- Current CSEP-CEP  or ACSM-CES/RCEP membership required.
- Master's Degree in Kinesiology or equivalent preferred.
- Current BCLS certification required.
- Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to maintain effective and respectful working relationships required.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational and assessment skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team player required.
- Minimum 2 years of current relevant (working with populations with chronic disease) kinesiology experience required, with ability to provide service delivery care to diverse renal populations, from
those requiring early intervention for chronic kidney disease, to those requiring peritoneal or hemodialysis and inclusive of those needing follow up post-kidney transplant.
- Clinical background/experience in kinesiology or exercise/lifestyle counseling, testing, prescribing and monitoring of special populations (preferably renal) required.
- Strong knowledge of exercise testing protocols in all areas of exercise physiology including anthropometry, strength, flexibility and aerobic capacity required.
- Travel required to facilitate exercise programs in other SARP clinics and hemodialysis sites

$43.55/per hour
