Medical - Management and Business ProfessionalThe Director, Event Reporting and Analysis is a leadership role in the Quality and Health care Improvement (QHI) Portfolio and reports directly to the Executive Director of Patient Safety. This
position is responsible and accountable for leading the team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of the provincial adverse event reporting and analysis system to support the delivery of key
provincial quality and safety initiatives throughout Alberta Health Services. The Director, Event Reporting and Analysis will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
and leaders in order to provide operational leadership to and oversee all related programs and services.
The Director, Event Reporting & Analysis provides direct support and expert counsel to the Executive Director, Patient Safety and the QHI Senior Management Team on all aspects of Patient Safety ,
event reporting and analysis This position establishes and maintains positive relationships with key local, provincial and national representatives and health care stakeholders including government
departments and officials.
The Director, Event Reporting and Analysis is accountable for AHS objectives regarding implementation, operationalization, management and monitoring of provincially integrated delivery of a
provincial e event reporting and analysis system in the most effective, leading manner.
The Director, Event Reporting and Analysis is also responsible for:
- Guiding and leading the development of a provincial Reporting & Learning System for patient safety
- Establishing and recommending an organizational approach and philosophy to reporting and analysis related to Patient Safety
- Developing and recommending taxonomy and definition to guide event reporting and analysis.
- Establishing key performance indicators for the Event Reporting and analysis team
- Overall implementation and monitoring of performance within assigned team
- Establishing a process to identify and share organizational safety learning arising from event reporting systems and other safety analysis.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of a graduate degree in business administration, health care profession, or related field. Equivalent combination of education and
experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 6 - 8 years of progressive, diverse health care leadership experience including senior management level required in a health care organization of significant size, complexity and
diversity.
In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas:
- Progressive leadership experience in a health care environment, including experience in a management role related to patient safety and quality.
- Practical experience in health care patient safety and quality, development/management of teams, strategy and policy development.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of business planning, modeling concepts, and program and project management theories, principles and practices.
- Strong information management skills with focus in understanding, analyzing and measuring information.
- Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
- Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources in a changing and multifaceted environment with diverse, complex and sensitive issues.
- Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization and managing within a unionized sector.
- Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and builds solid relationships with public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners
