Medical - Clerical and Administrative

Under the limited supervision of the Manager, General Ledger Master Data, this position is responsible for performing highly complex and multidimensional duties related to all aspects of the
general ledger for the Alberta Health Services in accordance with AHS policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles and financial directives issued by Alberta Health and
Wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
      - Applies accounting concepts and principals to improve data quality in the General Ledger including MIS compliance, validating chart of account (COA) changes and mapping tables, and updating
master data into Oracle.
      - Maintain hierarchy changes.
      - Maintain and review system access requests for appropriateness of responsibility, completeness and segregation of duties.  
       - Maintain and review account analysis, and adjustments to the monthly financial reports.
       - Assist in the preparation of the consolidated financial statement package.
       - Ensure the timely and accurate processing of interface files and journal entries.
       - Perform quality assurance functions by balancing, ensuring reasonability of data.
       - Prepares journal entries as required.
       - Provides relevant, timely and accurate financial reports to both internal and external users.
       - Monthly account reconciliations and analysis.
       - Support the customer service focus by developing effective relationships with stakeholders and following up with clients to ensure needs have been met in a timely and professional
manner. 
       - Other duties as assigned.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 29.27 per hour   Maximum: 35.33 per hour
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Education and/ or enrolled in the second or third year of an accredited accounting program.
Experience
- Minim um three years experience at progressive levels of responsibility.
- Health Care experience desired.
- Experience in large computerized environment with word processing and spreadsheet experience.   Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Must have strong analytical, written and oral communication skills.
- Must have the ability to meet defined deadlines.
- Must possess a high degree of initiative, judgment and decision making capabilities.
- Must have the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Must have strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Must have the ability to work with minimum direction and be a self-starter

$35.33/per hour
