Medical - Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric NurseA Registered Nurse position responsible for providing perioperative patient care using the nursing process, in accordance to CARNA, Operating Room Nurses
Association of Canada (ORNAC) and CSA standards of practice. The nurse will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in both a scrub and a circulating role as an
integral part of their surgical team. The nurse is responsible to provide safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite. The nurse promotes the professional role and evaluates own
professional education and clinical practice standards. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The nurse will practice using evidence based
measures and outcomes. The nurse is a patient advocate and provides a link between the units and the Operating Room. The Registered Nurse draws on a unique body of nursing knowledge.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 32.34 per hour Maximum: 42.45 per hour
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing. University preparation preferred
- Canadian Nurses Association Perioperative Certification preferred
- Current CARNA membership
- Current BCLS certification required
- Successful completion of a Perioperative Course or current experience in an operating room of similar function in the recent five years. Successful completion of a senior practicum in Perioperative
nursing will be considered. Extent and type of past operating room experience may be considered if beyond five years
- Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment
- Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team
- Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment
- Demonstrates communication skills promoting respect and team spirit
- Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours supporting the surgical team
- Repeated contact with radiographic procedures and ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time
