Medical - Clerical and Administrative

Working under the general guidance of the Supervisor, Patient Registration, this position performs a variety of clerical duties related to interviewing patients/parents to obtain correct
demographic information, entering information on the ADT computer systems and completing registrations, answering phones and processing calls and other related duties.
This position serves as a point of initial contact for persons seeking treatment at SMCHC through any of the Patient Registration areas.   The position collects hospital fees for uninsured and out
of country services when the Business Office is closed.   Other duties include answering telephones, greeting the public, booking appointments and directing individuals accordingly, relieving staff
on other floors requiring patient registration within the health centre.
The employee shall maintain confidentiality of all AHS information in accordance with HIA, FOIP and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with AHS's Information Privacy
and Information and Information Security policies.

Rates of Pay: Minimum: 19.01 per hour   Maximum: 22.09 per hour
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent required.
- Medical Terminology required.
- Admitting Clerk Course/Medical Office Assistant/Unit Clerk course and/or experience satisfactory to the employer. 
- Experience working within an integrated health centre environment preferred.
- Excellent telephone, public relations and reception skills.
- Accurate data entry and computer skills.    40 WPM (net) required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Netscape and Windows, Phantim, Clinibase, Redis, Alberta Health and Wellness Directory and on-line appointment scheduling.
- Good time management and interpersonal skills.
- Experience completing and processing health care forms ie. patient chargeables, Alberta Health Care applications, out of country, immigration, etc.
- Ability to communicate with clients of varying ages, socio-economic status and ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment with constant interruptions and changing work demands.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under stress and to work independently.
