Planning.
The Senior Strategic and Integrated Health Service Planner provides support and leadership to provincial strategic and integrated health system service delivery initiatives that advance the AHS
mission, goals, focus, values and priorities. The position requires continued adaptation in response to an evolving healthcare system. The role serves to advance strategic and integrated service
development across the province that allows planning to be inclusive across the continuum, including acute and community services, to be informed, proactive, disciplined and patient/client center
The Senior Strategic and Integrated Health Service Planner provides expert strategic planning and facilitation services to ensure health system design and delivery meets client needs now and into
the future. The Senior Strategic and Integrated Health Service Planner leads various provincial and stakeholder meetings, committees and project teams and contributes to strategic planning and
systematic evaluation of Strategic & Integrated Service Planning programs and services.
This position will have a key role in stakeholder relations, planning and organizing the activities of the portfolio and coordinating issues management on behalf of the Strategic & Integrated
Service Planning.
The Senior Strategic and Integrated Health Service Planner is also responsible for:
- Supports the advancement of an integrated, long-term service delivery perspective and promotes a province and health care system-wide approach to service development.
- Builds and maintains strategic plans, alliances and partnerships to move integration of service initiatives forward and promote long-term change for a sustainable health system.
- Aligns health service strategies and delivery models within the parameters of Alberta Health Services frameworks, policies, business plans, and standards/best practices that enable
operational areas to delivery high quality, patient centered services.
- Facilitates the development of comprehensive provincial evidence-based/ informed strategic and integrated service plans and care pathways that create service linkages across the continuum,
from prevention to end of life care.

Qualifications:
-A minimum of a Masters degree in a Health or Management related discipline. A combination of related experience and education may be considered. Health services planning, system design or project
management methodology training would be an asset.
-A minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in a management, administrative, planning, evaluation, quality improvement or clinical role in an organization of significant size,
complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset).
-A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
-Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas:
- Expert knowledge of the client group / function supported and ability to develop strategies and objectives for Strategic and Service Planning department.
- Successful leadership experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. - Experience in resource management including planning and budgetary
accountability.
- Proven abilities in complex problem solving, concerns resolution, investigation, and negotiation.
- Recognized as an effective Team Leader with successful experience in strategic human resource management and development.
- Significant successful experience in leading and supervising staff within a planning and/ or project management environment.
- Experience in initiating and fostering positive relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to deal with highly complex or sensitive issues in a professional manner.
- Considerable skill is needed to balance diverse and, occasionally conflicting, stakeholder interests.
- Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services.
- Ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations. Expert skills in negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution are required.
- Experience and expertise in facilitating presentations to convey information or transfer knowledge. Presentations are often to persuade or influence.
- Experience in leading senior level research projects or teams, expert level analysis, and developing complex reports to disseminate results.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate change.
- Has a solid understanding of strategic and integrated service planning and is able to use these skills to both assist others and in the development of strategic and service plans that support
AHS mission, goals, focus, values and priorities.
- Ability to know when decisions require consultation with more senior management. Ability to render judgment and take action when appropriate after exploring and developing alternative courses
of action based on logical assumptions and factual information.
- A valid drivers license is beneficial in supporting the work that will take place across the province.
