The Function
Reporting to the General Manager, Projects, the successful candidate will manage diverse oilfield equipment construction, upgrade and repair projects from concept through delivery and reporting. Project responsibilities include determining customer requirements, meeting industry and corporate standards, and providing quality results that meet deadlines and financial targets. This role will also provide supervision and guidance for assigned personnel and will assist the General Manager with financial plans and budgeting. Among other required functions, the incumbent will:
Meet with all stakeholders to develop project scope, costs, schedule and design.
Coordinate and supervise engineering staff or contractors for the design and drafting of projects.
Specify, tender and secure appropriate subcontracts and equipment.
Budget, plan, monitor and report to management on AFE costs, schedules, and progress.
Provide direct management to construction forces where appropriate, including administration assistant, rig-up supervision, rig-up crew, and subcontractors.
On-call duties may be required as well as covering for the GM or VP EPC in their absence. Participation is expected in industry organizations to keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
The Individual
As an ideal candidate, you will be an Engineer or Technologist with at least 15 years of progressive applicable experience with an extensive and solid track record in project management and training. You will have a related degree or diploma, APEGGA or ASET eligibility, and skills in the following areas:
Proven expertise in project management for the construction and modification of drilling and servicing equipment, providing direction to outside suppliers and tradesmen in the procurement and repair of company equipment, and training and supervision of junior projects personnel.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards, recommended practices and regulations, and effective in promoting and monitoring their compliance within the company.
Understanding and applying corporate policies in business ethics (e.g., contractual agreements and contract negotiations) and occupational health and safety.
Strengths in relationship building and excellent communication skills.
The Location
Based in Nisku, Alberta, this role requires some travel due to the wide geographical area in which our client operates.
